What Is A Chiropractic Adjustment?

Many people have heard of a chiropractic adjustment, but have you ever had the process explained?  Today, we will provide an in-depth overview of a chiropractic adjustment.

A Chiropractic adjustment is performed by a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC), also known as a chiropractor.   A chiropractor receives special training on how to correct misalignments in the body. A chiropractic adjustment is a process where the chiropractor corrects misalignments in the body by pushing the joint back into its correct position. A chiropractic adjustment can be performed by using the hands, an activator, or drop table.

Chiropractic adjustments are sometimes referred to as spinal manipulation or manual manipulation. Proper alignment of the joints is important because it better allows the body to heal naturally. Chiropractic adjustments can help alleviate tingling, weakness, numbness, and other associated symptoms.  They are most often used to treat conditions such as:

  • Low back pain
  • Headaches
  • Shoulder pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Joint pain
  • Neck pain
  • Sciatica
  • Pinched nerves
