Desk jobs involve sitting for long periods of time. Sitting is a major culprit of back pain and one of the top reasons why people seek assistance from a pain relief center or back pain doctor.  While regular chiropractic care can help keep your body in tune, everyday tasks can cause misalignment and other issues. If you work at a desk all day, we can help you develop a customized strategy to help avoid some of the issues caused by sitting for long periods of time. Let’s take a look at some general strategies to consider:

Work on Your Sitting Posture

Poor posture when sitting can strain your spine and cause spinal disc compression, twisted discs, etc.  Be sure to sit up straight, avoid slouching, and make sure your chair is the proper height.  You may even consider investing in an ergonomic keyboard and mouse.

Take Stretch Breaks

Getting up out of your chair to walk around and stretch can significantly help alleviate pain caused by sitting.  You can even employ some simple stretches such as trunk rotations or flexibility exercises throughout your day.

Keep Your Knees Below Your Hips

Keeping your knees below your hips is also an excellent strategy.  This helps to keep your hip flexors from getting too tight.

Dr. Adam W. Roussel, DC, MOT, CCEP, NASM-CES and his qualified team of pain relief center specialists utilize a multifaceted, individualized approach to help alleviate your pain as quickly and effectively as possible.  We first conduct a thorough evaluation to get to the root of your issue.  Then, we determine which therapies will work best for you.  These may include massage therapy, spinal disc decompression (to address spinal disc compression), cupping, dry needling, cold laser therapy, Active Release Technique®, Kinesio Taping® Method, Graston Technique® and more. Before you see a medical back pain doctor, we encourage you to give chiropractic care a try.  Our non-invasive approach is effective and designed to get you back to feeling whole again.
